Enhancing EFL Learners’ Reading Vocabulary Acquisition through Task-Based Instruction

Abstract: This study is intended to enhance students’ reading vocabulary through task-based instruction. It was also devised not only answer how the strategy can but get data about retention two weeks after implementation and responses towards strategy. The participantS of this were 30 ninth graders in SMPN 11 Malang second semester 2019/2020 academic year. Classroom Action Research (CAR) used as research design. Vocabulary test, questionnaire, observation sheet, interview session instruments study. There three tests, namely test one, two, delayed test. result showed that there an improvement students' scores. 90% students achieved at least 25 points for 61% passed 97.5% responded positively toward TBI could acquisition from context task’s characteristics. text helped give a clue some forgotten vocabularies, so they felt less burdened remember whole because generally understand text.

 Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kosakata membaca siswa melalui instruksi berbasis tugas. juga dirancang tidak hanya menjawab bagaimana strategi yang diterapkan dapat tetapi mendapatkan tentang retensi dua minggu setelah penerapan dan tanggapan terhadap diberikan. Partisipan penelitian adalah kelas 9B di genap tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Tindakan Kelas (PTK) digunakan sebagai desain penelitian. Tes kosakata, angket, lembar observasi, sesi wawancara menjadi instrumen dalam ini. Ada tiga tes diberikan, yaitu satu, dua, tertunda. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan pada nilai siswa: dari keseluruhan mencapai setidaknya poin mampu tertunda, menanggapi secara positif. penguasaan suatu konteks karakteristik Konteks teks membantu petunjuk beberapa telah terlupakan, sehingga mereka merasa terlalu terbebani mengingat kembali karena umumnya memahami tersebut.
